1650 hydraulic problem.

I bought a 1650 Oliver a few years back. It is having hydronic problems, runs great for a few minutes then it runs into problems and gets too hot. It has problems steering and picking up implements including the 3 point hitch. Any advice for the possible cause of the issues would be greatly appreciated.

Could be that the turnbuckle in the 3pt linkage is taken up too tight. When you raise it up all the way,do you hear the hydraulics "release" when it gets to the top or does it continue to labor a little?

Also, what do you know about the history of it? Did it have a loader on it before you bought it? Could be that somebody put the power beyond plug in and didn't take it out when they took the loader off,but if that was the case,it would lug down hard right from the time you started it up.

You can check very quickly for what Lund is telling you by moving the 3 point control lever ahead about 1 inch or so. If that is your problem, check the 2 bolts holding the control quadrant that supports the 3 point control handle and the 2 handles to the hydraulic housing to see if they are tight as I have seen them work loose.

I've looked into the adjustment on the 3pt before and wasn't the cause. It almost seems like fluid isn't flowing enough thur the system and there for getting hot and not doing what it is suppose to.
