My 660 sounded like it had a bad pilot bearing so I put a new one in and it still sounds the same, so I removed the pto shaft and the sound went away. the shaft seems to be straight and does not wobble when running. So I cleaned all the rust off the shaft and put it back in and when you put the tractor in gear and hold the clutch in the pto shaft vibrates like crazy and it does not do this with the shaft removed, The clutch shaft spins with no wobble. Any ideas as to what may be the problem? Thanks in advance, Chuck

If you have no hydraulic set up under dash, which would include the pump that sits under the hydraulics (in the transmission), then you may want to verify you have a pto shaft support at the top of the transmission(to see this you would have to remove the shifter plate either hydro plate, hydro delete plat) you may need to install a pto support housing, it is small bracket that the pto goes through to support shaft for tractors with a rear pto but no hydraulics.
if none of these fix the problem see if your shaft from bell housing to transmission input shaft is wobbling if so that could be a few things, shaft, bearing, coupler etc.

let us know what you find

Craig, The support on the 660 is built into the transmission housing and is not removable like the 77-880s are and there is a brass bushing in the back wall of the trans case to support the pto shaft. Maybe that bushing is worn out or not there. Thanks, Chuck
