Oliver 88 Generator

Hello out there; I have changed over my Dads Oliver 88 - which he bought new in the 50's; to 12 V. All seems to work great except I have the original 6 V generator on it still and want to go to a 12V generator. Is there anyone that can help me with this- or would know where I could purchase one that would fit? I really do not want to put on a 12v alternator.

Thanks .

Get one for a diesel. They were all 12 volt. I've got one on my 66 that I bought from the flea market area of a tractor show. It worked just fine when I brought it home. The one on my 77 is from a 1600,they were 12 volt too. I ordered a rebuilt online,I just had to pay the core. If I had to do that over again,I would have gotten one from an earlier tractor, like an early diesel or something up through an 880. The 1600 didn't have the regulator mounted on the generator and didn't have holes drilled for it,so I had to relocate it. I could have avoided all that hassle by just ordering one from a tractor that used the saddle type regulator in the first place. The wiring is all the same whether it's 6v or 12. I put a whole new wiring harness on the 66 and it was all just a matter of taking the wires off the 6v gen and regulator and hooking it up to the 12.

Hey thanks...sorry im late getting back ....where can I find an early model 12v that will fit...any idea? Thanks!
