Help, new owner of Oliver 550

I just got an Oliver 550, and wanted to know if it's 144 or 155 cubic inch. I think it's 1960. I can't read the tag. It smokes very little after warm, but starts missing like it's fouling one plug. the valve seals are leaking or the rings are worn, but not sure. I'm not a mechanic, the timing is right, because it sounds good running until it misses.

If it a 1960 it will have the larger engine. How about a picture of the manifold side of the engine. an engine serial number would be good and a block casting number too.

(quoted from post at 20:04:48 02/28/17) The first number starts with an 8 so you have the 155 cubic inch engine. Without looking I would say early 1960.
thanks, does it have valve seals

Yes it does, now are they still the original style or they the later Perfect Circle style? What test did you make to see if the seals are bad? Have you checked compression ? Do you have a vacuum gauge and have you used it to check the condition of the engine?

I have not checked compression or the seals yet. It is running good but every 6 or 8 seconds it puffs smoke. Not sure why, could it be head gasket or intake gaskets? I'm not losing coolant, is my oil to thin (15W- 40). Just want to narrow it down.
