I have an Oliver 1800 checkerboard tractor with a rockshaft off of an Oliver 1850. Lots of hydraulic pressure, but all the oil leaks into the rearend after a few hours, and the 3 point lever will not stay where you put it.( it goes back to the raised position when you let go of it) And as soon as you shut the tractor off the three-point drops all the way down. Does anyone know how to fix this, or where buy a good rockshaft?? I would like to get one off of an Oliver 1800, but if I could find one off an 1850 that works, that would be fine too! Hy-tran oil gets costly and draining excess oil off before using the tractor is getting old!! Thanks!!!

The 1850 is a better unit than the 1800 A unit, but you need to repair this one. Do you have a shop manual? The lift will need to be remove too. do you have the equipment to do that? Do you have e-mail?

I do have a shop manual, but it's pretty vague. I have the equipment to do it also. Had some one take off the old rock shaft(pump was shot and couldn't get another one) and put the 1850 rockshaft on, but I wasn't there to check out the pump and pan etc.. before it was installed. I want to try and get all the info I can before I tear into this so I don't have to do it again. my email is [email protected] Thanks!!

I think you've got three problems. Pump seal, friction disc on the 3pt lever and o-ring in the 3pt cylinder. All three can be fixed by taking the top off the rearend. The pump will most likely have to be replaced, but I've done all three of those jobs on my 1850.
