need to get a complete decal set for an 1855 im rebuilding , can anyone recommend the best place to buy these ? i have found a few place that have them , that i never bought from , these decals are pricy so i want the best i can get for that kind of money. maybe someone here could give a recommendation.

well that answers that question , thats where i was thinking of buying from , there price is actually the same as any other place i looked , but the decals in pictures looked to be very good quality

Dumont's is a good source. But as far as quality --- from what I have seen of tractor decals it is pretty bad overall. After high school I worked in a graphics shop. The reproduction of lettering styles and logos for a $100 decal set is just good enough to get-by and most people don't look that closely. The letters are even crooked on some and do not look professional. And the thing that burns me up the most is for $100, the decal set should be fairly durable but most I think are not well made and will not stand up to any abuse ... ok if your tractor will just sit in a museum.

guess there like anything els , got worse with time & price just goes up , wish this world could build things like they used too ,
but they would last to long & workers would loose jobs ,right.

I wouldn't worry too much about what he says. Anything I've ever gotten from Lyle, the quality has been excellent.

I agree--Dumonts are the ones to go to. Fair price, good quality.---Tee

We are doing a couple 1855s right now, got ours from oliverdecals.com. They are nice decals and have been good to work with, would def recommend

I got my decals for my 1600 from Dumont's. Been outside must of the last 14 years and they still look great.

I doubt if they would last 50 years like the originals. They are thin vinyl or mylar and will nick or scratch easily. I'm just saying that you should get more for you're money. Compare with a replacement decal set for a Woods mower with all of the warning decals for about same $100, those are thicker and much more durable.

Randy I'm not knocking Dumont's at all. They can only sell what is available like anyone else. I just think that from the tractor decal kits I've seen, the overall quality could be better.

I just don't think you'll find any better ones anywhere. I've seen tractors at shows that had decals that obviously came from somewhere else. They ruined a decent restoration. Lyle specializes in Oliver, for others it's just an afterthought.

I agree with getting them from Dumonts. They get them from one guy, and if you ask, they will include a sheet explaining exactly where they were placed originally from the factory.
