1850....No oil pressure

Okay, need some ideas. I've got an 1850 w/Perkins. I had a leaking oil pan gasket. Pulled the pan, replaced the gasket, changed oil filter, changed oil. Now...I start it..no oil pressure. I even pulled the line loose at the block, that goes to the gauge...no oil. Anybody have any ideas....I'm pulling my hair out. Thanks

If you had pressure before oil and filter change, you could have a plugged oil filter?
Did you check the oil pump pick up for pieces of old gasket?

Is there any chance the filter may have a plastic plug in it for shipping ? Or maybe plastic got into the filter somehow ? I have overlooked many things working on tractors that were real simple once I found them. I probably look at the pickup and change filter again. Just to be sure. Never owned one with a Perkins. Is there any way to prime the system ? I know I have not been much help but just offering ideas.

Early 1850 Diesel tractors had a four lobe oil pump. &nbsp Later tractors had a six lobe oil pump.   The change is covered in Service Bulletin # 430 125 dated 1-24-67 thus the change came sometime in late 66.

One of the reasons for the change is the problem that you have and could/did occur during an oil change.   Take off the line that you mentioned in your post and pour oil in the line, put line bgack on and start and you will have oil pressure again.   Your engine has developed an air lock that the four lobe pump could not overcome, six lobe will.

Oil filter was my first thought, so I put the old one back on...still nothing. I dropped the pan...again...and pulled the strainer off the bottom of the pickup...still nothing.

According to the serial number, this tractor was built in '67. Maybe it has the 4 lobe pump...I don't know. How do you pour oil, in a 1/8" line?

answer to your question about 1/8th inch line--I used a suction gun with my needle grease adapter screwed to it used it to fill the line.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I pulled the pump off...filled it full of oil and put it back on....while looking through a glaze of oil...dripping into my eyes, mouth...ears.. and put the pan back on. Filled it with oil. Then, took a syringe, and pushed as much oil as I could in to the oil pressure port. Started...now I have oil pressure. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
