I am working on a 1750 diesel. I was using this tractor this fall doing some pto work with it. I engaged the pto it ran for prolly 5 mins the abruptly stopped and killed the tractor. It is a single speed pto unit on this tractor. I tried to engage the pto again and it killed the tractor again. It got parked for winter repair and I am to the point of working on it. When the tractor is started the pto turn slowly but won't engage. Any help would be great. I know the unit will have to come off but trying to get an idea of what to look for.

I would pull the PTO off of the back first, might have a bearing gone.

A similar thing happened to my 1655 a
few years back. At the time I thought
the transmission was locked up. Turned
out to be the hydraulic pump drive gear
bearing seized. That gear stalled the
long pto shaft which stalled out the
tractor.Had to remove the hydraulic
housing to find it.
