Looking for information regarding 262 build. Going in a Cockshutt and seen couple posts from years ago with comments from a couple fellows. One username was stimm, other was past 40 puller. I'd like to talk with both these gentlemen if still on here or a way I could contract them. Thank you and appreciate any help.
 
If its a 262 its an Allis Chalmers engine as the Cockshutt 40 used a 230 Buda and the 50 used a 273.If its a gas 262 you will have a hard time finding pistons and they'll be

Mike Lepard in New York state has new pistons available for the 262 Engines. You can contact him at [email protected] I've got pistons from him for my 273 Buda. He's the go to guy for Buda design engines.
 
Heres my 40 Deluxe with a 262 from an F Gleaner...Somewhere I have a name written down for a guy that sells high compression pistons for them..

I've talked with Mike and I'll probably get pistons for my 273/262 motor I'm planning on putting together at some point but trying to find someone that has ran 235 Chevy pistons in 262. You can buy new ones cheap. Trying to get little more hp then I have and interested in Chevy option. Thanks for help/info so far fellas.
 
hi this is Mike LePard that 235 piston will give you 18.2 to 1 compression a little much lol I have looked hi and low for cheap options theres not much out there. 13 to 1 needs 114 octane gas to give you an idea you can call me anytime to discuss I will check some numbers that have been discontinued to see what I can find again.
 
I found the post you were looking at. with the changes it will work. head gasket that thickness about $150 offset piston pin bushings is a pain I have done it lol will cost you about $20 or more each plus the bushing. also need to machine pistons for snap rings
 
I'll have to get in contact with you Mike, I talked to you at Wauseon this summer for little bit bout 262 and pistons for 273/262 combo.
