Looking at 1850 that needs an engine. Wondering if a 4-53 is direct bolt in or how much work would a 6-53 be to put in?

I saw a video of one. It looked awesome. Thought it might be someone on here. If I have to change tubs I probably will stick with the Perkins.

It will fit in a wheatland tub but will NOT fit in a row crop tub. You will need a 1950 tub or a 1850 wheatland tub otherwise you have to chop a big hole in the side of the tub where the blower will sit and we all know that won't work.

Thanks guys. I made an offer on it yesterday. Hoping to hear back today. Sounds like it would be easiest to stay with a Perkins. I have already located a few but do not know how to tell the difference?

(quoted from post at 12:39:01 01/07/17) You are going to need some parts from a Perkins out of an 1850 for sure.

It has an engine in it J. It's just missing the pan and some main caps. It might be repairable. Also missing exhaust manifold. I talk to the owner years ago. I think he said he rebuilt one of his engines then it spun a bearing. Hoping it will be a cheap fix but also might be cheaper to find another engine. I just don't know how to tell which one I need? Lots of boat motors and a generator engine I found fairly close.

There is a pan there. I didn't look at it very close but may be for the Perkins.
Hopefully I will know Monday if he accepts my offer.

Good to know. My friend said he saw one. They're cleaning up the farm and there is lots of parts missing. They hauled the engine to the 1755 to the junk yard. That's probably what will happen to my treasures when I'm gone.
