crank on plowmaster 100

I started working on this plow today and needed to free up the crank. I finally got it unstuck and it unscrewed fairly easy until it got to the end and I forced it. When I got it out there was a small ball in the tube. When I cleaned the screw and put it in it doesn't seem right. How do I go about getting the ball in where it belongs. The plow I reworked a few years ago the crank wasn't stuck and i didn't take it apart. Any help would be appreciated,TC.

There is a sleeve half way up the crank that traps the ball bearings when assembled. You have to cut the sleeve off, slide the crank back in, , replace the balls and make a new sleeve to press back on to trap the balls again. The threads on the crank are interrupted at the end its not supposed to screw out all the way.

Thanks for the reply, thats about what I figured. I will get it cleaned and painted and then make a sleeve. I also figured someone else had this problem, thanks again.TC
