1555 What are the different light switch position for?

Trying to get the lights working on the '55.

I have:

Position 1; Instrument, front fender lights & tail light @ 5.3 volts, (smoke from switch!)

Position 2; Instrument, front fenders lights & tail light @ full voltage

Position 3; Instrument, Nose lights, fender lights, flasher lights on top of fenders

You've got a dead short somewhere in the position one circuit. Ex.(broken wire touching frame).

Just a thought neighbor had a allis that was always going dead one night while grinding feed he noticed a spark a little electric tape and problem solved. Maybe run it in the dark and see if anything sparks

Would Position 1 be the dim side maybe causing the smoke from the resistor? Just a thought. chris
