Front loader for Super 55

I found a super 55 with loader for sale locally. The loader is not currently attached and the current owner has never used it. He thinks it is complete with front mount pump.

Does anyone have pictures of how the loader attaches and how a front mount pump is mounted?

Thanks

Jonny

Is it a 59-A loader? Take a look at the link. It's not the first loader on the forum, so make sure you scroll down. If you go to the HPOCA page and contact Chris Losey, I am betting he has the manual.

It doesn't look like either of those on the link.

I wonder if that loader has ever been on that tractor. Funny they'd go to the trouble of putting those front weights on after they took it off. Not saying it won't fit.

Is that loader a good fit for the tractor? I have seen some post indicating the front axle on these tractors are not really made for heavy lifting. Especially without hydro assist.

The other loaders mentioned above look much lighter than this one.

I think those were made when the 550s were built, but they were basically the same tractor. You're right about power steering though. We had a Super 55 with a light trip bucket loader on it back in the day and we still broke the front axle on that one. Depends on what you want to lift and how hard you want to use it I guess. Just hanging the empty loader on it will make it steer hard. That looks like an early Super 55 so it was geared to steer harder than the later "Improved" Super 55s anyway. They changed the gearing in the steering box on the later ones because they steered kind of hard.

Thanks for all the responses. I went and looked at the tractor on Friday and decided it was a good fit. It is a 1951 and it is going to need a little work.

I am having it delivered, so don't have it in my possession yet, but I will start a new post when I get it and post lots of pictures. I'm sure I will have a lot more questions as time goes on.

Just for future reference,it's not a 51. They came out in 54. That one's between a 54 and 56. It's not the later "Improved" Super from 57 or 58. The gas cap would be in the center above the hood if it was the later one.

Good to know. I will have to take a closer look for serial numbers when I get it.

The tag should be down by the clutch pedal. When searching the numbers, drop the last three numbers.

After the white takeover of Cockshutt, the 658 loader used on the 540, 550 and 411 R Cockshutt was modified to fit the 550
Oliver and called the 659 loader. It is a farm loader, but I think more modern than the 59 loader. It was made by Freeman I believe. It works
very well on my 540 .
