1850 gas 310 1800 LP 283

New to the forum, I love all the knowledge! I have a 1850 with a ruined engine. BUT... I have a line on a reasonable 283. Would putting a 283 in an 1850 ruin its value? I could rebuild the 283 into a 310 but I'm not sure I would want this as my first ever rebuild.

What do you do with the tractor? The 283 will give you 80 horse power but is better on fuel.

I seldom work it hard. Mostly a small 3 point sprayer, a back blade, just driving around looking cool...

80 horse power should to that + it will consume less fuel.

I think you are right. I'm just going to do the straight swap. I'll do the full on 310 rebuild sooper dooper engine for a much later time. One of these days there will be a 310 for sale when I have money in my pocket...just not yet.
