oliver rear pto shims.

Well another aggravating pain. I was running my 77 pto the other day and noticed when i disengage with lever the pto will stop but slowly start to rotate again and ceazy clacking and rubbing noise comes from inside housing. So.... that being said, i removed housing looked at the clutch which seems ok? 😦 the collar seems tight and moved on to the clutch discs and shims. I removed bolts and few shims on all 3 spots to see if clutch needed tightening.i have no service manuel yet so not very sure ? How thick should the clutch disc be or how thin until they need to be replaced?

The shims are used to adjust the clutch, you remove shims to tighten the clutch. Don't throw the shims away! They are expensive! How much snap does it take to engage the PTO clutch?

Yeah i kepts the shims ha. I took the clutch collat fork off it seems little looses ? How much play should they be in the clutch fork ?

I don't know what the minimum thickness would be. They have to still have facing on them is all I can say. Add or take out shims until the lever causes the clutch to firmly snap over center.

Here's a picture of new discs. Maybe you can compare it to yours.

When I replaced the PTO plates in my 1550 gas I had just the opposite problem,I had to get another set of shims out of a parts 77 to make the new plates work apparently they were thicker than the
original ones.
