Oliver 4340 Landslide

Hello, I have an Oliver 4340 (3-16") plow that I'm quite sure has 419 bottoms on it. I know the landslides for the 419 are different than the 619, but cannot find any place that sells 419 landslides...only finding 619 landslides. The first bottom on my plow has a very worn 419 landslide, the 2nd and 3rd bottom have 619 landslides. Does anyone know if you can get 419 landslides still? And if you update to 619 landslides is there any reason why you shouldn't use them on a 419 bottom? Would it cause any issue with the plow not pulling correctly? As mine are very worn, and mismatched, I want to replace them. Thanks, Nate

Does your plow use four bolts on the share or just three. If they have four bolts they are 619. Most 4340 plows are 619 bottoms but the moldboards are 419. Early 619 bottoms were a straight landslide but later had the offset landslide. you need to use all offsets or straights but do not mix them. The bolt pattern is different between 419-619 slides. You can compare yours to a diagram at Shoups or Wiese to check for sure. Should also be a part # on backside of landslide. hope that wasn't too confusing.

Checking the plow, I have 4 bolt shares....so that would be 619 by what you described. What is the difference between a 419 moldboard and 619 moldboard? I see on Shoups they have wear pads also to install. As I said my plow has 2 of the newer offset landslides and 1 of the straight. But looking at the offset in the diagram and then my plow, my offsets are the wrong way. They offset out instead of in. The offset I thought was to accommodate the wear pad on the back. I'll see if I can get a pic loaded later. Thanks, Nate

Here are pics of my landslides...the straight one is on the 1st bottom, the offset one is on the 2nd bottom, and there is one similar on the 3rd bottom with a lot of extra plates welded on it. But as you can see, from looking at Shoups pics the offset appears to be going the wrong way on mine....like they were for a LH plow.

The offset goes out. The heal is an EP 1300 if I remember correctly. Oliver had a parts book just for plow bottoms and related parts. I might have one yet. You have e-mail? If not send me one.

Those are 619 series bottoms. The offset face out just as J. said above. The offset landslide was used to help keep the plow bottom straight in the furrow. The wear pad was not factory on those bottoms but can be used. The offset ones do not use an adjustable heal. The straight slides were also made in shorts medium and long lengths. The mediums or longs were used on the rear bottom to keep the plow straighter in thee furrow. yours is a short. The 619 moldboard was a little bit taller and narrower than a 419. The new shape did not turn as nice of furrow and was not liked by many farmers. Oliver then discontinued the 619 14 and 16 moldboard and went back to 419 boards on 619 bottoms. I have one original 619-16 moldboard. Your moldboards should have a number stamped on the rear to identify the series and the size. The larger bottoms like 18 20 inch were only made in 619 and newer series. There are many people that use 619 slides on 419 base but the share nose is not supported by the landslide any more. The 619 used the four hole share/frog to support the nose of the share.

Thank you gentlemen, I learned something on plows today. I was more confused because if you look at the diagram on Shoups its wrong, they are showing the side view and then what would be a top view, but that offset is in the wrong direction. That view should, by engineering drawing standards, be on the bottom then. The picture of the actual part matches what you guys are saying and what I see on my plow, the offset faces out. So I think I just need 3 of these landslides, and won't be concerned with installing the wear pad. Thank you, Nate.
