I blowed some snow with the 1550 today. Wasn't a whole lot but it was wet underneath. Went in R1 and even in H-P is was a little faster than I'd like. Took a lot less time than with the 2000 and front blade. May have to get chains, though.

Mike, A farmer bought a 1600 a while ago and it has the creeper drive unit. I would think that would work great for snow blowing. I had a 2-70 and that in under was fast in heavy snow.

Mike, found the pics of the 1600. They asked me to drive it because the hydropower wasn't working. They had Oliver's years ago and something was wrong with there new to them 1600. Out in the parking lot as I crawled along it came to me it has Creeper drive. The tractor wasn't running when he bought it and didn't take much to get her going.

I remember one big operation here that always used a Case tractor on the snow blower instead of any of their Deeres. They said the Case had a slower reverse in it.

Hey Mike thanks for the info. I hate to admit this but my blower still isn't quite ready to go on the tractor. When I pulled it in to go over it I found some cracked welds and some rotten metal I wanted to replace. I cut out all bad spots and have all the patches welded and am in the priming painting stage now. We haven't had much snow yet. I have the 300 with blade if I get caught in a bind but have not plowed yet. Thanks again.

I may have been a little vague. It always felt like R1 was nice and slow backing the baler and moco but that was at low throttle. At PTO speed it moves along pretty good. Mine has the high speed transmission which means 1 thru 4 and reverse are actually a bit slower than the standard. I think it will work fine once I get used to it. The heavy snow just pushes ahead in stead of going into the augur but it pushed just fine. I'm going to adjust my vertical links so it lifts higher so I can reach the chute crank easier. Does yours have hydraulics on the chute? That was optional and would be nice to have.
