Cletrac AG6 electrical issues?

Hello,

I've got an AG6 that quit running on me about a week and a half ago. At the time I figured it had either run out of fuel or the battery had died, so I didn't think much of it. Since then, I've checked the fuel, and the battery and neither seem to be the culprit. Half tank of fuel, and I charged the battery.

When I try to start it, I turn the key and then push the button. Sometimes I'll get a spark where the cable meets the positive post of the battery. Otherwise, I'll just hear a click from the solenoid. It is on a 12 volt. The engine is an Oliver FA244.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance,

Troy

The first thing I would do is clean, not only the positive post, but the negative post too. Make sure you clean where both battery cables are
attached. One will be to ground and one to the starter solenoid. Make sure that the cables are in good shape. They may look good on the
outside, but under the insulation they may be corroded.

I considered that. I did clean the terminal posts and the inside of the connectors. I thought about cleaning the other end of the cables but it just seemed weird to me that it would start and run, and then die all because of the connection. That said, at face value this does seem like a bad connection somewhere to me. But like I said, if it was a bad connection why would it have started and ran for a few minutes and then died. Could a connection have corroded in real time (while it was running) to the point that it would shut the machine down? I guess I'm equal parts confused and worried.

Thanks again,

Troy
