HI! new to the forum here, seen this site many times and finally became a member.
Couple of questions for those in the know. I have just purchased a white 2-60 FWA with loader. Now the paint is peeling off the chassis in places and green Oliver paint is underneath. The dash serial number plate says Oliver 1365, and the serial number points to it being a 1973 or so model (can't remember the number right now). It seems to me that know one would paint an Oliver to look like a white (just why). Old stock Oliver that White motor company re-painted when they turned into the 2-60 in 1976?
Second question. It seems to have an extended crank time before starting and does have some white smoke when running. It does need new filters and a injector pump return line leak repaired. Doesn't make sense that the return line leak could be introducing air into the system to cause this cranking problem. Could I be looking at a compression issue? tractor does have a lot of hours near 10000.
Thanks.

Sounds like it might have been on a dealer's lot and was repainted to look like the newer tractors,I have a couple 1365 tractors but nothing close to 10,000 hrs hope mine will go that long.

Ya I know its a lot of hours but they do seem to last pretty well. The tractor does have the 1365/1370 style grill on it too.

I've got a 73 that started life as a Cockshutt. It's got a lighter orange color under the red,but I painted it Oliver green.

Mine doesn't start hard, but it does smoke.

Thanks for the reply, nice tractor you have there. I'm hoping once I get the fuel filters changed (that have obvious water in the separator bowl) and fix the return line that the starting gets better. May run it on concentrate Liqui moly as well give the injectors the best chance I can.

Also how fast is the starter turning the engine? I replaced the starter on my 2WD 1365 with a new starter of the type that came on the Long tractors and it spins the engine a little faster than the old starter and it starts quicker.

Once you open that fuel system up,they're probably the worst diesel there is to bleed. Make sure you have it pointed in a direction where it's clear, and have somebody who can help you tow it.

I actually haven't checked the pre-heater yet (only had the tractor for a couple weeks so far), it's been in my warm garage so didn't feel there should be a need for it in there. Also About the towing it to start, I had heard that before about these tractors and worked on one a couple years ago that was a bear to bleed after the person ran it out of fuel( it wasn't me). I have been around a number of these fiat built tractors and seem to have a soft spot for them. Had a White 700 FWA last winter and really liked how it ran, seemed really smooth.

Here's what mine looked like when it showed up. And here's how it turned out. Love the thing, overhauled literally everything on it, but the good
news is that everything was available for the 1365. They are great little tractors. Last pic is dads 1255 that I'm about to start on this winter.
Same motor, less one cylinder, but the FWA is totally different and parts are nearly impossible to find. In any event, happy to help as best I can
with questions on your 2-60, just ask away.

Thanks for the offer. I'm in Ontario Canada and have import tractor parts only a little over an hour away from me. I've gotten parts from him before, seems OK to deal with. But even though he is so close he'll only deal online and in American money which sucks a bit for us Canadians right now.
