Cockshutt 40 widefront to narrow front

Hi guys. Looking for some advice. I want to take off my swartz wide front on the COOP E-4 I want to lighten up for pulling I have the pedestal hanging down below the front but I dont know what else I need Curently my pedestal hooks to a cup on the bottom that goes to the tie rods.. I'm looking to trim weight so i don't want the heavy cast centers, Help is appreciated. Will a 30 front end work? Sounds like it won't. I have pics of my E4 posted on this site under photos that show my front end situation.

so you do not have the Cockshutt front end on your tractor? where is your picture I could not find it. A 30 narrow front can be made to work but its a lot of work and may not turn out perfect. Where are you located there are some narrow fronts out there available. Irv

The shaft on a narrow front goes from bottom to top. The ones with wide front is only partial. I can get a picture tomorrow.

The center shaft on a 40 goes all the way to the steering box and is secured by a big nut to the sector gear. We had to jack the tractor way up every fall and spring to change the pedestal when we put the corn picker on and took it off. We had a mounted plow so need the wide front for counterbalance. I tried to find a photo but couldn't maybe someone else can. John
