Cockchutt 30

I have heard of guys swapping the engine out for a combine engine with the same bore as a 50. 3 3/4 diameter. Which combine if any used this engine. Tractor Data says the bore is 3 3/8. Is this correct? I have read elsewhere the bore is 3 7/16 with 3 9/19 as an overbore . Can anyone clear this up for me?

Buda made and 4 and 6 cylinder engines it 3 7/16 and 3 3/4 bores. The 3 7/16 were wet sleeve, 3 3/4 were cast in block. Links below will download a Buda factory engine manual.

To add to what mike said, the Cockshutt 30 with 4b153(4cyl) and the 40 with 6b230 (6cyl) both came with a 3 7/16 bore and a 3 9/16 over bore kit was offered. MW all so made a 3 1/2 increased bore kit for these engines. Both engines use the same wet sleeve. The Cockshutt 50 with a 6B273 (6cyl) was a 3 3/4 bore with no sleeve, the bore was part of the block casted. Many guys have use a Gleaner combine engine either a G230 or G262 as a replacement engine by using the Cockshutt front and rear engine plates, flywheel, starter, and governor system on these engines. they have a slightly different bore and stroke and pistons which give them a little more horse power. none will fit in the 30. hope that helps Irv
