H/P to Over/Under

Just spitballing here. Is there a way to make over an Over/Under from a 2-105 and put it in a 1600? Can the input shaft, output shaft and tail piece be swapped from the 1600 Hydra Power? I know, the 2-105 is a trunion coupler and the 1600 is a chain coupler. Since I put that 2-105 front axle under the 1600,I'm falling in love with that tractor all over again. An Over/Under in it would make it an even better loader tractor for handling and feeding round bales.

I sure hate to see that Over/Under at the scrap yard go to waste.

I can't answer that question...BUT....if you can buy the 3 spd cheap...I would buy it. Maybe, down the road you could trade it to one with a chain coupler, or at the very least you would have a spare for your 2-105. I know not long ago you rebuilt the one in your 2-135 and you know what the parts for that cost. A few yrs ago, a guy asked me to price my 1655....and I did...priced it high. He jumped on it. That was my raking and teddering tractor. I couldn't find a 1655 that I liked to replace it...so I ended up buying a 1650 in good shape. I had forgot how much difference there was between a 2 spd and a 3 spd....needless to say, as soon as I found a 1655 in decent shape...down the road that 1650 went!!!

If we get a decent day when I'm not busy,I might go get it. I already have the radiator out of it,and there's no cab to get in the way of the fuel tank. It would pretty much just be the four motor mount bolts. I'm tempted to see if they'd trade the radiator for another big old radiator I have here. I'm still thinking about that platform and console. The steering wheel won't turn, but I think the shaft's probably just rusted. The steering hydra motor would be worth getting after the fuel tank was out. I don't know if the used hydraulic pump is worth saving or not once the platform's off. I wish I knew what was wrong with the tractor in the first place.

Randy, if your place is anything like mine....you can never have too many...spare parts. If they are just going to scrap it anyhow...I don't know why they wouldn't trade radiators with you. It is hard to tell why it was junked...maybe something major...or maybe something simple. Hard to say about people anymore. I've seen guys around here, quit using a tractor for something as simple as the starter being out of it.

There's an injector out of it,so no doubt in my mind that there's water down in that cylinder. The tractor has just been beat to death then must have sat for a long time. Looks like it's been in manure or fertilizer. There was a lot of scaly rust on one side of the axle. One front wheel was pitted pretty deep with rust. The three point arms have been down in the dirt or manure for a long time. The balls are still in them. I tried to open the claws to get them out,but they're totally rusted shut. The seat cushions were completely rotted off, wood base and all.

Who knows. Might have been an injector problem and they just left it set until it was too late.
