After I pulled the other shift rod and compared it with the broken one, it is either a home made or cheap aftermarket. It's made from CRS, not machined the same, the detent notches are the wrong size and there it no evidence of the heat treatment around the notches. No part number stamped on it.

Thanks for posting back. I simply felt some of those grooves looked made with a handheld grinder instead of proper machining. I would have never guessed the material was all wrong though.

Hope you find the proper parts to fix it right.

The slots were machined in but it broke and was welded. What you saw was an attempt to clean up the slot after. No luck with a replacement yet. I may have to make one.

It's too bad Larry from Md passed on. If I remember right,he had one that he was going to part out.

Have you checked with "Roberts" in Morning Sun, OH? Morning Sun is a tiny town somewhat near Oxford, OH. Roberts used to computer catalog all their parts and I believe they even ship.

"Skillens" is another possibility close to me in North Hampton, OH. (near Springfield, OH). One man operation. His parts are not computer cataloged but Gary is a nice fella and he knows what he has on his premises in his head. I have bought quite a few things from him.

No part number. Now you've got me wondering. How do you know for sure which one you need since there are two possibilities? I don't recall if both are different,or just one. I think I'd try to find the number that's etched in the one on the other side and double check to see which number it matches up to on the side that you broke.

I got a dealer parts book with it. Both are '65s so my book doesn't show any serial number breaks. Right rod is 160377-A and left is 160378-A. The later rods are 164098-A and 164099-A (from AGCO online parts) and the change came at ser. no. 180616, but I don't know what was changed. There was no change to the forks. The change neutral switch was changed at 220000. All I need to know is if the rods will interchange. Smitty said he has one but he's not returning calls.

Mike AGCO parts book is available for free online viewing if you need exact serial numbers breaks due to your parts book being an early edition.

Had any luck finding one yet? Did you try either place I mentioned?
