I broke one a few years ago. Trouble is,there are two different part numbers on the one of mine that broke. There's an early one,then there's a later one that's the same as a 1555. Guess which one I had? Yep,the later one for the 1555. No new ones available. I had to find a 1555 that was parted out. Not an easy thing to do.

I need the early one, not available either. Smitty has the later one but is not sure if they will interchange.

Is that possibly the wrong one that someone ground their own cutout recess in to sorta make it work and then ultimately it broke where they ground it?

If not, what ground all that metal away?

It was welded. You can see some pitting and undercut just to the left of the break. Amateurish job.

Yep that photo shows it much better. I thought that was light glares on first set of photos.

Randy, do you know what the difference is between the early and late? The forks were the same. I first thought it was for relocating the neutral safety switch but that change came later.

Not sure what the difference was,just that there was a different part number imprinted in them. I got mine from Owosso Tractor Parts in Owosso Michigan. You might try them.
