Cockshutt 30 oil pressure fitting

On the left side of the cylinder head there is a special "T" type oil fitting for controlling oil pressure. The 30 I have it is not the correct fitting. Can I keep this standard fitting in place or search out the correct one? Just did some engine work on it and don't want any surprises. thank you Don

That is a restricted Tee. Without the restriction too much oil will flow to the valve train and it will not maintain pressure to the lower bearings. The camshaft gets lubrication from the oil draining from the head. I broke the threaded end off mine but the restriction is intact. You could also make a plug with the proper hole and solder it into a weatherhead tee. I'll measure the hole later today and post it with a picture.

I measured the hole at .058. A No. 54 drill is .055 and No. 53 is .0595 so it could be worn a little from .055. I machined the broken threads flat to braze on a new threaded end.
