#5 picker problems

Hi all, been on this site going on 16 years but first post ( I think) on the Ollie forum. I bought a #5 Oliver picker and resurrected it from the dead. I put it in the corn yesterday and it runs great other than one aggravation that I cannot figure out. The ear elevator dumps onto two short augers that feed the husking bed and the rear auger continually stops due to an ear getting lodged under it, like every 20 feet. I have not located a manual yet. I would add that this picker was in ROUGH shape, actually was headed to China when I saved it and I am wondering if there is a deflector or some something missing? I can take pics if that helps.
Thanks in advance!

My dad had one and it was a decent picker. You might try Floyd museum for a manual. Just a guess but it almost sounds to me that the auger is wore down and allowing the corn to catch. How much clearance do you have between the auger and the bottom? Maybe a sheet of thick plastic underneath the auger to decrease the space might help.

Is that a belt or slip clutch? If it's a slip clutch, how's the spring? How about a bearing dragging? I'd think if everything was tight enough,it would break the cob and keep going.
I've had a devil of a time with the husking rolls wanting to stop and slip the clutch in the husking bed on my New Idea. One time it was a dry bearing. Then I had to shim the spring when it started it again.

It is belt drive but the arrangement doesn't allow for much contact with the sheave. It turns freely with the belt off, I don't think there is any issues with bearings. Thanks for the tip on a manual I will check it out.
