Calling RRLund

Randy, I've been wondering for quite some time now who would have sold Olivers around Central Michigan. I've got a good handle on most other makes, but the only Oliver dealer that I can think of would've been up on 5 Mile Rd in Mecosta County.

You're thinking of the one in Sylvester. There was Horton's in Greenville,Parr and Son in McBride,Charlie Johnson in Fenwick,Hessler Brothers in Belding, one in Trufant,Ionia,Mt Pleasant,Clare...just to name the ones right off the top of my head. Somebody will think of others without a doubt.

Phillips Implement in St. Johns. Allegedly sold the first 88 diesel in MI. That is what the old boy that had it always told me anyway.

There was Pell's in Fremont (Still there),Long's in Rockford,Hofferbert's in Bannister. There was one in Falmouth too,I don't remember the name of that one,but my cousin's husband worked there for a while.

Here's the dealer decal from Phillips that RBoots talked about.

I believe that might have been it. They sold New Idea too didn't they? I can remember the sign out along 66. Larry told me he worked there as a mechanic for a while.

Wow, I have just heard dad talk about them. I figured they were out of business before am 1850 would have came out. Totally forgot about Hofferberts over there too. Thanks for the pic Randy.

Yes, they did sell New Idea. That's where my Dad's relation was buying their tractors and equipment.

I bought that tractor from the original owner. A guy by the name of Whitford. Glenn I want to say. He lived just east of the new 127 expressway to the first corner off 21 then south a little. The expressway went right through his farm. That tractor is a 1966 according to the serial number, but he said he bought it new in 68.

OK. I had that all wrong. Vogel Center had a CO-OP, but didn't see Olivers. Falmouth CO-OP did, and so did McBain's.

Thanks guys! That's great information. I had no idea there were so many dealers around the area. Hard to imagine that Trufant had a dealer at one time. I don't see much oliver green sitting around over there. Too bad someone wasn't keeping a registry with all of the dealers known to have existed across the US.

I still read now and then in articles in Oliver collector magazines, about dealers here in Michigan that I never knew about. There were a bunch, that's for sure.
