1555 Clutch Problem answer??

I have a 1555 with clutch action only at the bottom of the pedal stroke. I replaced the clutch, thinking it was worn out. The new clutch is the same. I talked to a guy in the service department of the dealership where I bought the parts. He said that the clutches are seldom adjusted correctly. The sheet that came with the new clutch indicated an adjustment of 9/32. The service guy said it should be closer to 1/8. I'm skeptical that even that will bring the fingers out far enough to work.

Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Being in the same boat that you are,I'd say the answer is to take the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel to a good clutch shop and have them set everything up. The 1550 was one of the few that I haven't sent it all in,just had them reface the clutch, and it was the only one I've had a problem with.

this might sound odd but they sometimes put bolts in the pressure plate that hold the springs tight during shipping I put a clutch in a white 2-155 and bolted everything up and the pressure plate would just touch the clutch lining.they might have done the same with yours
