What are the real differences between the 2-85 model and a 2-105? Are there differences in clutches or final drives; internal parts? Physically they look the same. Hydraulic pumps or systems have any differences? I know the 2-105 has a turbo-charger on the engine.

Thanks for any input.

Randy: FYI for you, when the 1950T was introduced there were some changes made inside the transmission case to add more strength to the final drive over what was found in the GM powered 1950 tractors. Since the 2-105 is rated at the same power as the 2-105 that set up was also used in the 2-105 tractors. I left in the fall of 76 and so I would have to check if any other changes were made to that rear end in the production of the 2-105 and 2-110 tractors. I never had one apart. Does that help?

I never had one apart either. Seems every time it's asked, there are different thoughts on the subject. I remember reading somewhere one time that the differential was changed at some point in the 105s and more spider gears were added. The somebody said that didn't happen until the 2-110s. BM had said there were some extra ribs or some such thing in a 1955 castings that weren't there in the 1855,2-85 or 2-105. It's hard to know what to think.

Yes that 1950T case I think did have extra ribs, plus it has the inter supports for the bull pinion housings, plus the bearing to keep ring gear deflection down.
