1555--New Clutch, same problem

When I got the 1555 there was no clutch action except at the very bottom of the pedal. I adjusted until there was no more adjustment and decided it needed a new clutch. Installed that today and it's no different. Did I do something wrong, or what?

Am trying to put up some pictures of the clutch and linkage but not sure if I can get them to load.

Pressure plate? I made the mistake of not getting the pressure plate rebuilt and adjusted right when I put a new one in mine two years ago. I had the opposite problem,not enough linkage. I had to take the clevis off a 1600 parts tractor and weld a nut on it so it was long enough. I[m tempted to put the loader on it a while and wear the clutch down some so I can put the original back on.
 
I put in a new pilot bearing, new clutch and pressure plate, and a new throwout bearing, among other things. Ordered it all from a reputable Oliver specialist, so it should be the right stuff. It sure looks like just lengthening the rod would take care of it, but not sure I should do that....

Like I said,I didn't lengthen the rod,just welded a nut on the clevis so I had more length. I was lucky enough to have a spare so I didn't ruin the old one and have it here to put back on.

I replaced a clutch in my 1650 this summer and had this problem. Installed pressure plate initially without spacers between pressure plate and flywheel. Added spacers and it was good.
