I had my chance

I just watched this sell on a local auction and didn't buy it. $5700. Went to Wisconsin I guess. Don't know if it went to somebody on here or not. I didn't recognize the buyer.
1973 model with 2200 hours. Ran good, been sitting in the barn for 10 years, not used much in the last 20.

I see it is the early 585 engine but does have external oil pump. I think a 2-135 or 2-155 with FWA would put it to shame and be more practical.

I've known the guy for a long time. I used to sell bull calves to him back when I milked cows. I talked to him at the sale for a while. A guy down the road had a big Stieger and a 12 bottom plow. He said he hooked on to that plow with this one once. He said that old big slow turning Moline engine pulled that 12 bottom plow like nobody's business.

I was interested for sure, but when it came right down to it,it was just too much tractor. I don't know what in the world I every would have done with it except loose space in the tool shed.

There was a little 66 gas on the sale too. Barely average shape,49 model with narrow front and no hydraulics. That brought $1700. I thought that was too much for that one.

That's what the guys who were poking me in the ribs at the sale said. I told them ya,give $6000 for this and spend another $10,000 for a building to keep it in.

Was gonna go to that one but forgot about it until you posted the picture of it. Went cheap enough I guess?? Never seen one up close, always thought they were "hideous" lol

They sold one without a cab in Imlay City a few years ago. Unfortunately I was out of town on the auction date. I had talked to him a few years before, he kept it sitting in his front yard. When they buried their modern Allis or International, they would use their 1650 to pull start it and go pull out the Allis. They stopped using it regularly when tools needed more hydraulics then it had. Did say they had never gotten it stuck or found a (reasonable) tool that it could not pull.

Ya. One bid bought it. $300. Except for a broken windshield,it was in nice shape, but that was more than I'd have paid for another one if I had to use it after I got it home.

Dang that was cheap to compared to around here. Too bad I wasn't there. I need a wagon elevator for a 727 husking bed. Mine got crunched into a 90 degree angle, only thing I can find around here are non running power units with husking beds in tough shape that have sat out for the last 20 years.
