I need help with a Revers-o-torque

I have a White 2-62 backhoe and loader. The revers-o-torque wasn't the best when I got it and it has gotten much worse. Reverse work fine, but forward, it revs up to about 2000rpm and then jumps into gear and bounces up and down for 10' or 15' before settling down and runs smooth until you let off of the pedal and then it stops and repeats. Any ideas on repairs? Or should I just try to find a good used one?? Where would I even begin looking for a used one? Thanks, Chris

Chris: Between now and Friday get me the serial number of your tractor. There were units made by Funk and some made by Borg Warner. I need more information! J.

John, tractor numbers are 255-72057; serial # 190 439-507. Loader is a model 1678, serial # 12371, backhoe model 1615, serial # 13257. The shaft that controls forward and reverse feels snug when pushing to reverse but has quite a bit of free travel when moving to forward before any resistance is felt. Possibly the problem is in the control valve?? Chris
