Got a problem. The temp gauge on my 65 Oliver 770-- gas-- has never worked-- just read dead cold. Recently, after running the tractor for a while the needle jumps up to the far right of the gauge. It was low on coolant so I added some. Te tractor doesn't seem to be overheating... Probably the sensor? or could it be the water pump? How do I test the sensor or water pump?

Check for voltage down at the wire to the sender, should have 12 volts down there. If you have voltage there, ground the wire out, and the needle on the gauge should jump all the way to the right. If it doesn't, something is wrong with the gauge assy. If you don't have voltage at the sender wire, it's a wiring issue. If it does go all the way to the right when you ground it out, it's the sender.
