I'm wanting to get this tractor but I can't figure out what model it is since the side tin is missing the owner thinks it's a 1750 or 1850, It has a Diesel engine pretty sure it's the Perkins. My buddy has a 1850 his range selection is just a pull switch. This one has a leaver right beside the throttle with over/under and can't remember what the center position is called. If you need some more pics I can get them. Thanks

A picture may help. You should be able to find a number for the motor and trans that can aid in identification.

(quoted from post at 08:58:08 09/03/16) If the engine is a Perkins it may be like the neighbor's late 1850, his also has the over/direct/under hydraul shift option.

I'm trying to figure out how to put photos on here, not going well

O. K. The 1850 had a Perkins engine. On the 1850 the injection pump is mounted in the vertical position and both manifold are on the same (right) side of the engine. On the 1750 the injection pump is mounted in the horizontal position and the intake manifold is on the right side of the engine and the exhaust manifold on the left side. Early tractor had a hydra-power unit which was direct drive and low range controlled by a knob. Later units had a 3 speed unit which was under drive direct drive and over drive controlled with a lever by the throttle. does that help/

The tag under the steering collum
Model #385-42089
Serial #203 886-528
I have tried entering them but I can't figure out what they belong to maybe someone else will have more luck thanks

(quoted from post at 19:52:39 09/03/16) It is a late 1850.
Thanks now a need a manual one with good transmission details, any recommendations? Something is wrong in the transmission it does drive but very very slowly and absolutely no power couldn't tell if it made much difference what range it's in I spent most of the time moving it in under. The owner thought it's something in the hydrostatic like the oil is bypassing. Didn't notice any smell of clutch burning though. Any input would be awsome thanks

The next time you start it and run it in neutral see how fast the chain coupler turns. Then put it in gear, run the engine the same RPM and see how fast the coupler turns. If it turns at a slower speed the problem is in the engine clutch or in the over-under unit.

I'll deffinatly do that next time I'm moving it (will probably be loading on a trailer to bring home)
Thank you for your help

So I did as you said the the chain coupler stops turning when you put it in gear. From what I'v determined I have to pull the engin to replace the clutch. I'm just wondering is there anything else I can do to figure out if the problem is the clutch or the over/under drive. Is the clutch adjustable?
Thanks

If nothing changed when you moved the over under handle into the 3 positions, the center is out of the clutch unless you have no free travel in the clutch. Remember the long PTO drive shaft will need to be removed before you try to remove the engine.
