My 1600 seems to run rough after I have been using it. Tried pulling out the choke some but that didn't help. Could it be the ignition system? Still has points, maybe change it to electronic ignition? Changed the fuel filter. Don't know where to start! thanks

My 1550 with a Mallory distributor used to do that quite often. Every time it did,I'd have to open the points up a little more. I finally threw in the towel and changed that one to electronic, but I'd start by checking the points to make sure they haven't worn off where that raise on the lobe and be sure they're opening far enough.

(quoted from post at 14:03:39 08/14/16) I will try it this week!

Our 63 1600 had been touchy since grandpa bought it new in 64. I rebuilt it and got it going again about 12 years ago, and within 25 hours it was at it again. I put in a Pertronix kit and haven't had an issue since.
