Super 77 diesel oil pressure

I just replaced my gauges and my oil pressure is very low. The pressure line comes out of the filter housing. On my super 88 diesel and my 77 gas tractors it comes out of the rear block plug. Does anyone know if it needs to be moved?

Shouldn't matter. 770's have the electric
sender on the oil filter base. Does yours
have the little standpipe (I forget what
it's actually called) when you pull the oil
filter off? About 1 1/2" long with a slight
taper at the very end of it? How about your
oil pressure relief valve, did you pull that
out and make sure it isn't stuck open? If it
isn't, stretch the spring a bit or shim it
and see if that helps, the spring could be
weak. The oil pressure relief valve is a
thin hex head, on the side of the block,
right next to where the side cover bumps out
on the RH side of the block, under the
generator. I think it is a 7/8 plug iirc, it
will have a point on the inside of it, then
a spring and a little plunger/piston after
that.

Was wondering where you got your gauges from.I just put aftermarket gauges in my 66 Oliver and had the same problem.Found out they were 42 psi gauges and the tractor only runs 15-18 psi normal so would not come up into the green range.Put in a gauge with numbers and found the oil pressure was 22 psi.

Case puller brings up a good point too,
check with a good numerical gauge to check
the accuracy of your new gauges as well,
just to be sure.

I got a gauge set from yesterday's tractor. I think it's rated at 25lbs. I might hook a number that's up to check it.

I looked at the gauge package. It says the gauge is 0-15. I still need to find a number gauge to check it. I did pull the filter and the tube is still there but I didn't try to remove it to check restrictor. The relief valve seems to be fine but I stretched the spring anyway but didn't help. All I saw in there was a spring and a cup. It there suppose to be something else.

I put a 770d spring in it and the needle pegged so I stretched the original some more and it almost pegs revved up and sits in the red at idle. Think I will get a new spring.

Good deal, at least the worked out for you!
I've had a couple that ran great, but with
low oil pressure, and that didn't help,
unfortunately. Sometimes it does, sometimes
it doesn't...

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm glad it worked too. Now for the charging system and back to looking for sheet metal. Might have to break down and buy new.
