Oliver Super 88 Hydraulics

i recently bought a 56 super ** with factory wide front and factory power steering, but the hydraulics are weak, it wont pick up a 10 ft disk. i remember hearing that you can add washers somewhere to increase its pressure if the pump isnt junk.

What make and model disk? Some are considerably heavier than others. What size hydraulic cylinder? A wider piston inside the cylinder will create more lifting force. If you have a 2 or 2 1/2 inch cylinder which was a typical size back then you may need a 3 or 3 1/2 inch diameter to create the force you need. Those Oliver systems were not high pressure when compared to today's tractors. I would have to do some checking but I think the maximum pressure was around 1200 PSI.

its a 10 ft oliver with a 4x8 ram on it, my buddys super 77 lifted it right up at idle i was WOT and it wouldnt lift it

Run the oil out of the system. Put a male tip in one of the couplers with a short hose on it and run the oil in a bucket. Add some shims to the relief valve spring and plunger. If there is no improvement, most likely the pump is worn and due for a rebuild. What usually happens is the gears wear into the end plates and allow too much oil to slip by. 608-214-3852
