Thanks for the replys. Turns out the bent rods are intakes. All were straight at overhaul. I always thought the clearances would tighten as the
new valves seat in. Tractor runs perfect after setting valve clearance then after a few hours it starts cold on only 2-3 cylinders, warms to running
normal. It don't act like guides are binding. Only 19+ hours since overhaul 5 years ago. Don't get much use, but useful when I need it.
 
Acts like guides to two of us. One other option appears to be a non starter. You got any idea, now?

Gas or diesel would only mean that the piston would be closing any stuck valve on the diesel on every occasion, if it was not a case of slow closing (at low speed) rather than completely stuck.
