The 3pt hitch will raise and lower empty. When hitched to something like 4x4 round bale, it will only lift about 6 in. Where do I start and what to look for?

How much you can lift is controlled by the amount of pressure in the system. Several questions: Does the tractor have a remote valve? If it does that would make checking the pressure easy. Do you have a 2000 PSI pressure gauge? How much does that bale weigh? Around here round bales are about as easy to find as winning lottery tickets? Is the bale straw or hay?

Yes it has auxiliary valve. The 4x4 hay bales weigh 4-600 ea. I'll test to see what pressure is. Thanks.

I've used some tractors of this size, sounds like about the limit the 4000 fords were at. Here round bales are 8-1000 pounds or so I'm told in the ads selling them.

They don't lift the front end? Maybe set that way so the front end stays on the ground.

Update, the pressure was low. O ring bad.
