What kind of front end loader is appropriate for my 550?

Hello again. What should I be looking for in a front end loader for my 58/60 Cockshutt 550 diesel? Is there a brand or type? Do I basically take a template of my bolt pattern on the tractor and the width across my frame, length to axle and go shopping? I have rear hydraulic lines to plug into on the back of the tractor.

I did not receive a email from you. I primarily bought the tractor for lifting heavy iron gates and fencing. Also I would like to dig and move dirt around. I plan to put a set of forks on the bucket to move firewood/iron scrap bins. I am going to wonder what I ever did without a tractor....

I have an Oliver/White factory loader on a 2-44 for sale---It has the front mounted pump & appears to be in good condition---My emai's open or you can call me at 903 729 8349

The hyd pump on the 550 is beefy enough for the 3ph, but I think you'd be disappointed with its performance on a loader. You could fabricate a front-mounted pump (expensive) for a loader like an Allied 390 or you could get a Prince pto mounted hyd pump (less expensive) to drive the loader. Either of these options will not be cheap and could easily end up costing more that what you've paid for the tractor.

Alternatively, since you have a 3pth and remotes, you may find that a good boom pole could do the job for you. By adding a hydraulic top link cylinder you could add a lot of flexibility:

Another alternative would be a 3pth jib crane.

A front end loader is a must have for me. Not a trip bucket either. Will the remote hydro work at all for this? I'll have to figure something out. I'm hoping to find something local to s.e. Michigan. external link is in grand blanc, that's only about a half hour from me. Plus there are a ton of farm implement places around here. Just wanting to know what to look for. I was not aware of any limitations with the remote lines.

I'll be using a boom pole for pulling logs tho. Had one on my little Jacobsen lawn tractor, it would pull a 10' log 12" thick out of the forest. I need to keep the 3pt open for other attachments and still use the loader. Eventually I will be looking for a 3pt back hoe. I hope the remote leads can do this.... I want to dig the yard up.
