Hi guys, first tractor not sure how the power steering works. 60ish Cockshutt 550 diesel with a wide front end. When I am parked I can turn the steering wheel 1/2 turn without the wheels turning. Seems like a bit too much slop. I only Drove it once so far, bought it a mile down the road and drove it home. The front wheels would be fine then all of a sudden they would start shaking back and forth and then stop every so often it happened again... not sure where to begin fixing this issue..... also I noticed the left front outer tie rod has been replaced/welded to a longer shaft but it doesn't stick out as far as the right side. So the alignment cannot be true.... I am ordering a replacement soon....

Most likely on the inside of the power steering unit the bearing adjusting nut has come loose. You have a phone number or e-mail?

I took the hood off, I looked at what was there and covered it back up. Lol I couldn't find a parts diagram. I hope it's just a loose nut. I did see what appeared to be a leather cover over something. I didn't open it.

Check the inner tie rod ends, or where the steering linkage comes from the pump. A
wheel wobble like that suggests that the problem is with both wheels and the linkages
to them .Ben
