I have an 1850 in the shop with the top shaft of the trans seized. what oil is supposed to be in the trans of these tractors? it smelled like 80-90 when I drained it and was about that to the touch, but the trans is a pressure lubed system...... wouldn't hyd oil pump and lube better???

thanks.

The system has a lube pump that is run off of the back of the countershaft.  Lube oil is supplied to the input shaft through the collector ring, lube is also supplied to the differential and the PTO.

Apparently the pump is not functioning, inspection is in order.   No oil at the filter on the LH side means the pump is not functioning.  If the unit is still together, operate it in high range "N" and loosen the filter to check for lube flow.
