Oliver 600 Serial Number Question

This 600 I bought has a pretty good ID plate on it and appears to me the serial number is 460 268 which doesn't match up to the serial numbers for the 600 on
the Oliver Magazine page.Anyone know what the serial numbers are for the 600?

According to Larry Gay's book,
1962 449 600-452 300
1963 452 301-453 700

Are you sure that 6 isn't a 5?

I went back up and was looking at the 600 and looked up on the frame where DB puts their numbers and there it reads 990 OA 460 268 and its very clear and am sure its a 6 but I'll look at it
again tomorrow.

Looking at the DB 990 Implematic serial numbers if they numbered the Olivers in sequence with the David Brown 990's then its a late 1963.Does OA stand for Oliver America?

You know when Chris had that story in the magazine a few years ago if I remember right there was a small group of 600 tractors that were later than what is normally mentioned.

I don't think that's what it stood for. I don't know much about the 600,but on the 500 there was kind of a series 1 and a series 2. The series 1 was a 2/OA and the series 2 was a 2/OC.

That could be it but interestingly I read a story about a fellow in Farm Collector magazine that had restored a 500.He said the 500 was sold in the USA and then Canada but the 600 was only sold in the USA because DB didn't want the 600 to compete with the 990 in Canada but there were no 850 Models being sold in Canada so the 500 had no direct DB model to compete. So could
OC in the serial number could mean Oliver Canada? Seems like if they were just IDing a 2nd model 500 they'd of picked B instead of C for the 2nd model.I joined the DB club in England so maybe someone there was around when these things were being shipped over to get some information from.

Was this the story you read? He was the was Feature Collector in Hart Parr Oliver Collector magazine a few issues ago.

I don't think that was Oliver Canada either. They were sold in the US as that second series too. I'd bet the bulk of them were sold here. I do know that Jim Irwin's 500 is an OA serial number and he's in Ontario. His is a 61,same as mine, but his is a diesel and mine's gas. They're only a few numbers apart in the serial numbers. I don't know, but there could have been some OBs made as David Browns between runs of Olivers. Who knows.
500 story

Nelson has 26 of the 600s on the registry. Of the 26, only 11 have serial numbers within the kniown range and have the batteries by the seat. The rest, including mine, have numbers at 460xxx or higher and have the battery in front of the radiator. Two of them have 462xxx numbers.
