It was the throw out bearing

I got the engine out of the 2-105 yesterday. When I pulled the Over/Under back, the bearing pulled right apart and all the balls fell out. I sure wish that one was greasable like all the rest. Sitting there with the pedal down over and over all day long with it running at 2200 RPMs while I'm putting the twine on round bales sure takes it's toll.

I sent the flywheel, pressure plate and clutch to Clutch Dynamics to have them resurfaced and rebuilt. I've got a hunch the throw out bearing will be the first to go again next time unless it's better than the one that was in it.

I've had better luck with the pilot and throw out bearings they supply than the ones you can get from the parts store. NOT had good luck with parts store ones, they are cheapy Chinese junk. It isn't fun splitting a 7710 Ford, let alone twice when the throw out bearing failed after 40 hours. And, the ones that came with the clutch kits Worthington used to sell weren't any better, and the clutch itelf wasn't either. Made that mistake in a 1066 ONCE. Not fun to resplit them for fun either. Never got another clutch from somewhere other than clutch dynamics.

Oh yeah, I was gonna send this to you, isn't it the same as your 500, or not good enough picture? Might be high priced, I'm not a DB expert like yourself...

The fork that works the release bearing, and the tube (if no HPD/over under) are the same for the 1850 and 2-105 so the ID of the bearing carrier should be the same (just checked p/n's in AGCO). Find a greasable bearing carrier from an 1850, and re-engineer a greaseable unit.

I cross drilled one in our 1855 loader tractor for the same reason. It has a boss on the bottom where the grease hose/fitting would go.

I called Farm Depot in Ionia this morning and ordered an Agco, along with a new pilot and the O-ring for the trunion. I guess if it lasts 37 years like the original,it won't be my problem anymore. I just hope it does hold up. It's about three times the job to get that engine out as it in from an 1850. Almost as bad as the 2-135.

Some similarities, but it doesn't look like it has the cross box between the fenders that I need.
