Gaskets for a 550?

Hey folks,

Started working on my 550 gas again. Swapped on a brand new carb, (Zenith), and it still will not idle unless the choke is 3/4 out. (had same problem with old carb too...amongst others.) Anyway, I had decided to pull the intake and exhaust manifolds. I am going to magnaflux the intake and check for cracks (I suspect the gaskets, but going to check anyway.) My exhaust manifold is broken big time, so I am going to build a tube header for it while I am at it so I can quiet the little cuss up.

Question: Where can I get intake and exhaust gaskets for a 550 gas? I do not want to buy a whole gasket set, since I am not going to over haul it. I seem to be seeing that I will have to buy gasket materiel and gut my own out. I can do this, but I thought I would ask to see if there is a source for them first.

Thanks guys! Now I can go fire the 88 up and get back to fencing!

First thing is the early 550 use a smaller gasket than the later ones. So a serial number is necessary. Agco will have them and when I worked for Dana Victor Gasletslisted them too. The later one should be a popular set as they were also use on a Clark forklift. You have a vacuum gauge? You need to check the vacuum so you know where the problem is.

Thanks for the reply. It figures it couldn't be easy! lol. I believe the data plate is missing on this ol girl...could not find it before. But, I was told (rightly or wrongly I know not) that the later units had power steering as standard? If so, this one would be earlier, since it is manual steering.

The tractor, I think, was an industrial, since the green paint is peeling off alot of places, and everything showing underneath is industrial yellow. Also, the underside of the hood, etc is yellow.

I really need to shut the old girl up, it gives me a headache to run it very long...so I will be pulling the manifolds anyway.

Thanks for the tip on AGCO...I would not have thought they still carried bits and pieces for a machine this old. I will talk to them in the morning, I have to swing past there anyway.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I forgot. Yes, I have a Vac guage. Where would I attach it on the 550? I have not seen a port...nor a plug that I recall off hand.

Cheers!

Looked at Korves site last night. Could not find a listing for them. Maybe they are sold out?
