compression lbs. for Super 55 gas

I'm working on a well worn Super 55 gasser. Just started to check things out. Don't have a manual, so I'm in need of info on what the "factory new" compression lbs should be? This one reads 125, 115, 110, and 125. Are these readings seriously low? It starts easily and runs pretty good, but overheats too quickly. Anyway, for now I'm needing compression info. Thanks for any help!

125 is O. K. Did you have all 4 plugs out and throttle wide open? Was this a wet or dry test. 125 is above minimum, have not checked one in 40 years but I think 120 was about the minimum

Overheating is not likely connected with those compression pressures for any unmodified engine. Look to timing, mixture and cooling system for the likely culprits, although there
are a few other possibiities.

First check might be the accuracy of any temperature indication. Does it boil? Is the guage accurate? Is it losing coolant? Is there a slight leakage via the head gasket (only
apparent at ignition pressures)? Any inlet manifold leaks? Even oil level can be pertinent.

Checking the colour of the plugs might be a good initial check, also.

But I would not be even thinking of compression testing initially. Bubbles into the cooling system would indicate a slightly leaking head gasket, as would the pH of the coolant.

Thanks guys for the info. I've already done some of the checks that you've suggested, but some others I haven't done yet. I know that the radiator needs replaced, but it was overheating quickly and losing fluid before the radiator sprung a leak. No fluid in crankcase. So my concern was that I had a head gasket leak somewhere. I've got more checks to do, obviously!

I have a super 55 1957 , i took the governor apart BUT believe it may have been assembled improperly as it looked like it was dissembled before - is there a exploded view around of this assembly :?
is there a posted discussion on how to adjust this assembly and all the linkage to the carb,,, ?
It surges and when you being the throttle bar down it dies :((
any help deeply appreciated -
