1850 PTO Clutch Plug

Anyone have any tips on how to loosen the plug for getting to the PTO clutch adjustment? I"m using a double-nutted 5/8 bolt as a hex wrench, but the plug won"t budge. I"ve heated it some with a propane torch, but didn"t want to put the acetylene torch on it without checking here first. The tranny is filled to second test hole plug, if that makes a difference on how much heat can be applied. Thanks for the help, as always.

I saw a u tube vid on that, seemed simple, I don't remember a mention of a plug. Probably can still find it.

There are times when my 1850 seems in need of a clutch adjustment, it has always been related to fluid level along with implements attached. Correct fluid level with the proper rpm has always been the answer.

If it's that hard might be best to wait till you see it removed before doing it on yours. If it has to be done I'd get a new plug before attempting it and do what you have to even if it means drilling it out, but I would be real sure it has to, you will put shavings in the fluid that most likely will ruin something. I'd use a strong magnet while drilling it. You can see why I wouldn't unless it was really needed.

I've removed a lot of plugs, I don't understand the method your using, maybe I'll see it on some vid sometime and then say, Oh, that's what he was talking about. I don't think anyone can tell you how much heat to use. Enough to get it out. If it will go in farther some Kroll might work work.
