Cockshutt 35 hercules go-198

I am in the process of rebuilding a hercules Go-198 out of a cockshutt 35 that i bought in pieces. the new pistons aren't directional but the rods are, does anyone know what direction the rods are to face?

The usual convention is that everything is marked/numbered on the cam shaft side of the engine.

Not always so. Buda engines in Cockshutts have the numbered side away from the camshaft. Continentals in the 20s, toward the camshaft. Better find a manual. You should be able to find the info on line.

All Hercules engines I have seen are marked as oliver90owner has said.

the rod numbers go toward the camshaft.I have done a couple of these

just to clarify one side of the rod says hercules and then a number and the other side is just a number. is it the number only side that faces the cam?
