White 2-70 Water Pump

I need to replace/repair the water pump on 2-70 diesel, it is wobbling and leaking. I figure the 3 options are: 1. purchase reman water pump, 2. Purchase "new" water pump, but that would probably be Chinese, South American etc. or 3. attempt to rebuild with kit for bearing, seal etc.

I am inclined to go with option 1, rebuilt that has same casting number as mine, probably spend $100-$150. What do you all think, is that the best route? Any suggestions for an online source or dealer I can call on phone? Also, does the pulley usually press off/on easily or is there potential for breaking or bending something. Thanks for advice, the seal let loose suddenly after I had just filled 3-pt tank with 150 gallon of herbicide; had to fill rad with fresh water and quickly run out the spray.

I would pick either option 1 or option 3. Do you have access to a press? There is no machine work involved. However you need to do a few things before you break something. You like in the states and have a phone number or if not you have e-mail?

Not laughing at anything you say,but it brought a little chuckle to me. I had to rebuild the one on the 1600 one time. That one has the cast pulley on it,so I called the dealer and asked if they could press it apart for me while I did some other running. I dropped it off, came back about 45 minutes later and when I walked in the door Shawne was looking kind of sheepish. I said "They broke it didn't they?". She just said "Yup". At least it was them and not me. lol

Yeah, that's what had me worried and to ask the question. I have done a few MF with cast pulley and have about a 2 out of 3 success rate without breakage.

P.S. J. Schwiebert, I will try to open my email. Thanks

Seems like a lifetime ago I worked at a factory and I was fix-it man for about 30 forklifts. I would fix them all with water pump kits and they are actually pretty easy to do. I used an air press and a water pump rebuild was done in less than 10 minutes. Of course, the remove and replace took a little longer. After you've done a couple, you can do them in your sleep.
