2-105 fuel tank removal

Just for future reference, and probably near future, how do I get the fuel tank out of a 79 2-105 with a factory cab? Jack up the cab? Unbolt the motor and pull it ahead? Pull the head off the engine?

It's had a little noise in it when I push the clutch pedal down every since I bought it,but running the round baler today, with all the stopping at 2200 RPMs to put the twine on,it kept getting progressively worse until it was making so much noise that I parked it and finished baling with the 2-135. I think it must be the throw out bearing, maybe the pilot. That's the only tractor I've got that doesn't have a greasable throw out bearing. I don't think I'd better bale any more with it until I pull the engine and see what's going on.

its been a 30 years since I worked on one, if memory serves me I'm almost certain you have to raise the front of the cab.you have to remove the floor mat to access the cab bolts and I think you also have to remove the cab floor cover.

I'll probably have to at least loosen the rear cab mount bolts too then won't I? Maybe even take one bolt out of each side and loosen the other?

your probably correct , I think that I removed the battery and used a bottle jack placed in the battery compartment and could just catch the edge of the cab frame with a 5 or 8 ton jack to raise the cab. after having to work on the 105 several times I remember thinking that the 1850 was so much easier to work on.in my opinion the 105 was no improvement over the 1850. I have something else to discuss with you about your new 105 , my email is open.

Mine doesn't have the lower tank,so I think a floor jack on the right side with something standing on it will work.
It's different than the mounts on the 2-135. On the 135 the rear mount bolts thread right in to the axle housing. The 105 has brackets where the fenders would bolt on and the cab bolts to those. All I have to do is take out the front bolts on those brackets and loosen the back ones. It looks like the floor will have to come up so the shift will clear.

It'll be a few weeks before I tear in to it,I'm not afraid to use it to cut hay,I just don't want to hold the clutch pedal down over and over all day.

Your email isn't linked on Classic, but I'll link mine up.

I am not seeing your email open either on classic view, I apparently have an issue with not being logged in , I am trying to get it resolved thanks .

Dang it. I got out in the field yesterday and realized I didn't even link up my email after I said I did. Try it now on Classic.
